Artist statement

Well, we’ve gone and done it! 

The human race has wiped itself out. Faint signs on blasted rock indicate the passing of a whole civilization.

But Nature has hardly noticed. The first signs of continuing life have already appeared among the devastation.

I guess most of us have these thoughts/dreams in these times of global warming.

In time metal and wood develop a patina. 

Metal turns to rust and in my experiments of printing on fabric from rusted objects I saw landscapes appear. Landscape develops its own patina over time - 

the ripples of wind over bare soil, human footprints, car tracks, animal scratchings and footprints.

The ethereal quality of these works encourages the viewer to look closely and discover images within images. 

My hand-stitching is a meditation on the shape and form of plants.

The plants symbolise the emergence of life in an otherwise dry and barren landscape. 

Some works are plant-dyed resulting in a subdued and earth-like palate.

GALLERY F is proud to present FUSION a group show featuring the work of local artists

Exhibition runs until November 26

Local artists are engaged in the first incarnation of the Gallery F namesake with all participants Fusing talents and working with individual techniques to showcase a diversity of artistic practice across the community.

Works will range from painting, textiles, glassworks, artist-books through to drawing, video and installation. Artists participating in the exhibition are Colin Straub, Jennifer Matthews, Eunice Wake, Ann Hayward, Gwynneth Pender, Lynette Mc Donald, Kate Cotching, Win Moser, Melissa Castleman, Traci McLeod, Val Robinson, Luci Callipari-Marcuzzo and Prue Hobbs.

We are seeking applications from artists and creative people who would like to exhibit at GALLERY F gallery in 2017!

whitecubemildura retrospective exhibition

2nd July - 31st August 2016

The first exhibition in GALLERY F was a group show of works that have been exhibited through whitecubemildura, curated by Rosina Byrne.

whitecubemildura was an Artist Run Initiative that ran from 2011 until 2016 and was located in various businesses in the Mildura Centre. During this time over 130 local artists and makers exhibited their work.

How We Started

GALLERY F is located in the exhibition space that was initially set up in 2012 as Wallflower Photomedia Gallery by Ross Lake OAM and Dr Kristian Häggblom with the support of Arts Mildura. At the end of 2015 Wallflower moved from this space and continues to facilitate projects both physically and virtually on a global scale.

In mid 2016 Arts Mildura approached a number of artists who were connected with whitecubemildura with a proposition to set up a new space. An open meeting of artists was held and as result GALLERY F was born. This grass roots initiative is being developed by a group of artists with a desire to help foster and support the arts across the community. We are interested in creating connections with artists in a supportive environment within a regional context. We aim to develop opportunities for mentoring and building artists skills and knowledge through exhibitions, workshops and professional development. The space is welcoming of artists at all stages in their careers from those currently studying, to emerging and right through to mid –career or established artists.
