SUNDAY NOV 5th EVENT: M&AM WEBITE LAUNCH PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY GALLERY F MILDURA

An Invitation to Makers & Artists from our region
PROJECT LAUNCH EVENT
MAKERS & ARTISTS MILDURA WEBSITE PROJECT
Sunday 5 November 2017, 2-4pm
Local artist and maker, Jennifer Gadsden, has been participating in the 2017 Northern Mallee Leaders Program, a development program which aims to inspire and assist people from all walks of life to make significant difference in their local communities and the wider community. The NMLP program runs for a period of ten months between February and November for more than twenty participants. This years program is nearing completion, and within twelve months of graduation all Northern Mallee Leaders participants are required to complete a community project of their choice which uses their local knowledge, networks and confidence to actively support their community and wider region.
Jennifer has identified a need for a local makers and artists website which will assist in promoting all the artists and makers of our region when they are not exhibiting or participating in a local market. The website will be a useful resource for visitors to our region as well as local residents wanting to source an original hand-made creation or an original artwork, and will also include links to artists & makers initiatives in neighbouring regions, thereby creating an artists and makers trail. When the website has been established, it will be promoted through tourist information centres, cafes and accommodation houses
On the website, each artist will be featured on their own page with some images of their works or creations, a statement about their work or creative practice, their contact details, and a map to indicate their town location. The website is purely for promotional purposes for artists and makers, and will not feature shopping trolleys or any sales platform. It will also help to promote art exhibitions, events, local makers markets, creative workshops and other arts events in our region to help strengthen artistic networks in our region and beyond.
All artists and makers in our region are welcome to attend the Website Launch event, and there will be a range of guest speakers from local arts organisations outlining some of their current projects and arts initiatives, and refreshments will be provided.
